Built for

  • Life science and research organizations
  • Healthcare and other regulated teams
  • Mid-size companies without a full-time AI executive
  • AI, analytics, and research software companies

Track record

Two decades of taking complex systems from pilot to production

  • Fortune 100

Production machine learning deployed at Fortune 100 companies and a U.S. federal agency, including the policies and thresholds that governed it

  • $200K–$10M

Enterprise contracts led as technical lead, from executive demonstration through proof of concept to production

  • 49

Executive and technical workshops delivered on site in a single year, plus a five-day AI policy training program

  • HIPAA

Three software teams led for a regulated national patient and donor matching service, turning bioinformatics research into production

  • $4.5M

Enterprise storage acquisition run through a competitive RFP, plus a $4M grant secured after a network audit

Services

Leadership when you need direction. Engineering when you need it built.

Fractional leadership and advisory

Retainer

Fractional head of AI adoption

Senior leadership a few days a month that turns interest in AI into tools people use and results leaders can measure.

  • Adoption strategy and roadmap
  • Use-case intake, scoring, and prioritization
  • Executive workshops, training, and champion networks
  • Value reporting on adoption, usage, and productivity

Retainer or project

AI and data product go-to-market

For companies selling machine learning, analytics, or research software: align product, sales, marketing, and customers around what the product does well.

  • Solution design and technical sales strategy
  • Proofs of concept built to convert to production
  • Customer feedback turned into roadmap priorities
  • Customer training and adoption programs

Advisory sprint

AI governance, security, and risk

Guardrails that let regulated teams say yes to AI without creating new exposure.

  • Responsible AI policy and review process
  • AI policy training for operating teams
  • HIPAA-aware data and system design
  • Identity, security analytics, and risk controls

Technical services

Pilot project

Applied AI pilots and private models

Focused LLM pilots with clear success measures, including private models that keep sensitive data in-house.

  • Use-case pilots scoped for a production path
  • Retrieval over your documents and data
  • Private and on-premises models
  • Model evaluation before you scale

Project

Bioinformatics and research informatics

Production sequencing workflows and research informatics that give scientists self-service visibility into progress, quality, and results.

  • NGS workflow design and automation, including UMI-aware processing
  • Automated, rules-based quality checks and insights
  • Self-service dashboards that replace manual command-line checks

Project

Research data platforms and engineering

The data foundation AI depends on: clean, connected, governed, and ready to query.

  • Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and graph databases
  • Cloud data pipelines on AWS
  • Record matching, scoring, and data lifecycle

Project or advisory

Scientific computing and research infrastructure

Compute, storage, and networking for labs and research groups, on premises, in the cloud, or both.

  • HPC clusters and high-capacity storage
  • Hybrid cloud and data center migration
  • RFPs, vendor selection, and grant-funded upgrades
  • Disaster recovery readiness

Approach

Most AI pilots stall between the demo and production. We plan for production from day one.

  1. 01

    Assess

Inventory the AI tools, data, contracts, and risks already in play, and find where value is realistic.

  2. 02

    Prioritize

Score use cases on value, feasibility, and risk. Agree on a short list and a roadmap leadership can fund.

  3. 03

    Build

Deliver pilots with production requirements built in: data quality, evaluation, security, and ownership.

  4. 04

    Operate

Hand off to your team with monitoring, training, and value reporting so results keep showing up.

Engagements

Three ways to work together

Advisory sprint

Weeks

A focused assessment, roadmap, or governance review with a clear written deliverable.

Fractional retainer

Ongoing, a set number of days per month

Embedded senior leadership that sets direction, runs governance, and keeps programs moving.

Defined project

Scoped, fixed timeline

Hands-on build of a pipeline, platform, or AI system, delivered and handed off to your team.

About

Research computing roots. Enterprise AI focus.

Nau Labs, LLC is a technical consulting firm based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our work grew out of research computing, genomics, and data engineering for academic, clinical, and enterprise teams, and out of years spent taking machine learning security and identity analytics products from proof of concept to production.

That background shapes how we approach AI. We treat it as a production system with data, security, and people around it, and we stay with it until it delivers.
